    Sigirya Rock Fortress

    Climb one of the most iconic landmarks in Sri Lanka, the UNESCO-listed Sigiriya Rock Fortress. This 5th-century marvel, built by King Kashyapa, is often called the Eighth Wonder of the World. Ascend through the giant lion’s paws, marvel at the famous Sigiriya frescoes, and walk along the ancient mirror wall, where inscriptions from centuries past still remain.     Next stop is the Royal Botanical Gardens, which is located in the peaceful suburbs of Peradeniya. Spread over 147 acres this beautiful garden is home to 4000 species of plants which includes orchids, spices, medicinal plants and palm trees which are spread all over the whole garden. The first destination will certainly give you a wonderful experience as to what Kandy has to offer!

    Temple of the Tooth Relic

    The Temple of the Tooth, named after the only surviving relic of Buddha is one of the main landmarks within the city of Kandy. The Temple stands next to the Kandy lake in a calm and picturesque manner and is renowned as a sacred location in the heart of Kandy. Daily ritual worship services are conducted by Monks in the inner chamber of the Temple of Tooth three times a day; at dawn, at noon and at sundown. On Wednesdays, a symbolic bathing of the Sacred Relic is held in the Temple of Tooth with an herbal preparation made from scented water and fragrant flowers, called Nanumura Mangallaya.

    Kandy Lake – Take a cool walk around Kandy Lake

    With the evening breeze and as the sun begins to set for the day, a peaceful walk around the Kandy lake will just add the finishing touches to an eventful day in the Kandy city. This walk will help you unwind, surrounded by the calming lake while you witness the beauty of this sacred city!

    Visit this dedicated elephant care facility, where rescued and retired elephants are given a safe and nurturing environment. Learn about the foundation’s conservation efforts, observe elephants up close, and take part in activities such as elephant walks, feeding, and bathing under expert supervision.

    Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage

    Explore the world-famous Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, home to one of the largest captive elephant herds in Sri Lanka. Observe baby elephants being bottle-fed and see the entire herd as they make their way to the river for their daily bath.
